The Course

Course Content

The course is set out in a structured manner to cover all of the prime aspects involved in developing a profitable business.  The course consists of three core modules which in turn are further divided into nineteen subsections which form a logical process through the maze of business development.

On Successful Completion of the Course

You will be equipped to drive forward with the confidence, discipline, understanding, knowledge and skills in all of the following subject matters which provide a comprehensive framework from which to develop and grow a profitable business.

Module 1

Creating a Stable Platform for Business

This module is designed to create an overall awareness of what is involved in starting a business from a personal perspective.  It will also give the learner an understanding of the legal requirements involved, the methods of establishing an administrative and business structure that will act as the firm platform from which to develop a growing business, plus an understanding of how to stay in control of a business and manage effectively.

Module 2

Developing a Robust Marketing and Sales Strategy

This module is designed to give the learner an understanding of how to establish the methods and structures for obtaining sound knowledge about a market sector, its customers and the competition, in order to position the business in the market effectively.  It provides an understanding of the methods for tapping into the triggers that make us buy, and provides the tools and techniques of effective marketing practice.  It provides an understanding of the principles and procedures for developing a good business name/brand and how to protect it, along with any other elements of the business’s intellectual property.  It also provides an understanding of the methods and procedures involved in developing a robust marketing strategy, plus an understanding of the structure and methods used in developing good effective selling techniques.

Module 3

Managing Business Finance

This module is designed to give the learner an understanding of how to establish what a profitable business needs to charge, and why charging too little is one of the most common reasons for business failure.  It provides an understanding of the methods and techniques involved in bookkeeping in order to stay on top of the numbers and be able to make informed financial decisions.  It provides an understanding of how to read and analyse the numbers in order to make sound financial planning and management decisions.  It also provides an understanding of the legal requirements and obligations that a business or individual has to ‘Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs’ and the methods of calculating tax assessments.
